Blasting Sand is a natural olivine-based abrasive used in blasting systems to clean metal surfaces and prepare them before coating.
It is used to remove rust and old coatings from ship hulls, to prepare the surfaces of steel structures and tanks, and to clean a wide range of machinery and metal parts.
Olivine’s hardness of 6.5–7 Mohs, specific gravity of 3.2 g/cm³ and angular grain shape are its key physical properties for surface treatment applications.
